Cropped Trench Coats Are Trending For Spring

By now, you’ve probably heard that trench coats are the ultimate springtime essential. While I do have a classic one I adore, there are moments when it feels like a bit of an overstatement. Sure, it’s perfect for the office or a dinner outing, but for daytime jaunts or more casual events, it just sometimes feels like too much.

And although my affection for moto jackets runs deep, lately they’ve been giving off a bit of a dated vibe. (Trust me, I’m not happy about it…I adore my moto jackets!) That’s why I’ve been swooning over cropped trench coats.

Obviously, the classic midi-length trench coat isn’t going anywhere—it’s a timeless staple for good reason. But the cropped version brings a fun, playful vibe that’s also ideal for warmer weather. Because let’s be real, not every outfit needs a long coat to shine, and the cropped trench strikes that sweet spot between chic and relaxed. Like my beloved moto jackets, it’s just an easy, effortless way to finish an outfit, but one that feels fresh.

I spotted this one hanging on the rack and grabbed it immediately. It’s pretty funny, actually—I didn’t realize I’d already ordered it online, and it just hadn’t arrived yet. It looked just as fantastic in person as it did online. The structured shoulders (epaulets!), the belted cuffs—everything about it had me sold.

I especially love that it looks good whether buttoned up or left casually open.

The fabric feels wonderfully soft—none of that stiff texture you sometimes find in trench coats. Plus, it’s lightweight, so it’s perfect for both spring and summer. (And it also comes in black, white, and a pretty olive color.)

This is going to be a go-to jacket of mine…I can’t wait to wear it over dresses and skirts once the weather warms up a bit.

A Moment For The Softest Jeans, Ever

And I just have to give a shout out to these featherweight jeans again that literally feel like pjs. They’re made from 61% cotton and 39% Tencel® lyocell (a sustainably produced fiber), so although they aren’t stretchy, they’re super soft, lightweight, and incredibly comfortable. (I love them so much I just bought the lighter wash as well.)

Fit notes: I love the fit…they’re not overly baggy on me, and the waistband actually highlights my waist while also fitting over my booty (jeans are often too big in the waist if they fit over the booty). I cut this pair to be able to wear them with sneakers, but I’m going to keep the length of the lighter wash so I can wear them with heels.
