I rang in the new Millennium with Peppermint Dip. It was a fun, festive and delicious appetizer that I immediately recreated it (with my own little twist). Through the years, I have served this unexpected crowd pleaser at events I catered and parties I hosted.

The original was made with Cool Whip and crushed peppermint…but who can resist peppermint in delightfully sweet, all natural whipped cream? Certainly not me!

Peppermint Whipped Cream Serving Suggestions

This delicious dip makes an amazing dessert topping, too!

To Store

  • Room Temperature – This peppermint dip should not be left out at room temperature for more than two hours while serving.
  • Refrigerator – Transfer to an airtight container and seal. Refrigerate up to four hours (for best volume), stir and serve. It will lose volume the longer it’s stored, but it can be stored in the refrigerator safely for 2-3 days.
  • Freezer – Transfer to an airtight container, seal and freeze up to three months. Allow to thaw on countertop, stir and serve.

Substitutions

  • Powdered Sugar – Also known as confectioner’s sugar it sweetens the dip while giving it luxurious texture. If you don’t have powdered sugar, pulse white granulated sugar in a food processor until light and fluffy.
  • Cool Whip – Substitute heavy cream and powdered sugar by blending crushed peppermint into Cool Whip or your favorite whipped topping.

Tips

  • For best results, use cold cream and chilled mixing bowl.
  • Do not over-whip.
  • You can purchase crushed peppermint sticks, but be sure it’s not crushed butter peppermint (it appears the same, but has a different chalky texture).

How to Make

  1. In a stand mixer, beat heavy cream. Gradually increase speed until stiff peaks form. Sweet whipped cream in a bowl with a whisk.
  2. Reduce speed, and gradually add powdered sugar until combined. On low speed, add crushed peppermint until just incorporated. Sweet fruit dip with peppermint sprinkles in a bowl.
  3. Serve with any of your favorite fruits or dippers or on top of your favorite desserts and drinks.
